Aldborough House

Aldborough House, Dublin 1

This derelict mansion was the second-biggest Georgian residence in Dublin after Leinster House, although it wasn’t a residence for most of its life.

Built in the the late 1790s by Edward Stratford, second Earl of Aldborough

Previous owners include a Cistercian Monk, Dublin Corpo, Department of Posts and Telegraph, Telecom Eireann and IMRO!

Planning was granted to convert it to a hospital in 2006 but that never happened.

Abandoned now for 20 years.

Planning permission was granted for the conversion into an office complex in 2018 despite many concerns about the scale and intensity of the new development but no earth turned since.
